- TEMPORARY GROWING STRUCTURE. A temporary growing structure has sides and roof covered with polyethylene, polyvinyl or similar flexible synthetic material and is used to provide plants with either frost protection or increased heat retention. Temporary structures are those that are erected for a period of less than 180 days.THERMOSTAT. An automatic control device used to maintain temperature at a fixed or adjustable set point.TIME SWITCH CONTROL.
