Section 388-14A-4122. What kind of information is included in the National Medical Support Notice?

- The National Medical Support Notice (NMSN) and its cover letter advise the obligated parent's employer and the plan administrator that:(1) The obligated parent is required to provide health insurance coverage for the children named in the notice;(2) Information regarding the custodial parent and children, especially address information, is confidential and may not be released to anyone, including the noncustodial parent (NCP);(3) Within twenty business days of the date on the notice, the employer must either:(a) Respond to the NMSN by completing the response form and returning it to DCS; or(b) Forward Part B of the NMSN to the plan administrator.(4) The employer or plan administrator is required to enroll the children in a health insurance plan offered by the employer or the union if insurance the children can use is or will become available as provided in WAC 388-14A-4130;(5) The employer or plan administrator must provide:(a) Information about the health insurance plan and policy as requested in the notice; and(b) Any necessary claim forms or membership cards as soon as they are available.(6) The employer or union must withhold premiums from the obligated parent's net earnings if the obligated parent is required to pay part or all of the premiums for coverage under the health insurance plan.(7) Noncompliance with the NMSN subjects the employer or union to a fine of up to one thousand dollars under RCW 26.18.180.
