  • (1) The long-term care worker mental health specialty training must include all of the competencies described in WAC 388-112-0142 for the following topics:
    (a) Understanding major mental illnesses;
    (b) Resident background, experiences and beliefs;
    (c) Respectful communication;
    (d) Creative approaches to challenging behaviors;
    (e) Decompensation and relapse planning;
    (f) Responding to hallucinations and delusions;
    (g) Crisis intervention and dealing with aggression; and
    (h) Suicide prevention.
