Section 388-112-0053. What topics must be taught in the core competencies of basic training for long-term care workers?

- Basic training for long-term care workers must include all of the competencies described in WAC 388-112-0055 and must cover the following topics:(1) Communication skills;(2) Long-term care worker self-care;(3) Problem solving;(4) Resident rights and maintaining dignity;(5) Abuse, abandonment, neglect, financial exploitation and mandatory reporting;(6) Resident directed care;(7) Cultural sensitivity;(8) Body mechanics;(9) Fall prevention;(10) Skin and body care;(11) Long-term care worker roles and boundaries;(12) Supporting activities of daily living;(13) Food preparation and handling;(14) Medication assistance;(15) Infection control, blood-borne pathogens, HIV/AIDS; and(16) Grief and loss.
