- If a client displays symptoms of mental illness and/or persistent challenging behavior, the service provider must:(1) Refer the client for a professional assessment;(2) Prior to the referral, prepare a psychiatric referral summary, including the frequency and severity of the symptoms or behaviors, and take or send this document to the treatment professional conducting the assessment;(3) Respect the client's preference to visit the treatment professional independently; and(4) If drugs are prescribed, have the prescribing professional assess the client at least annually to review the continued need for the medication(s) and possible dosage reduction.[WSR 16-14-058, recodified as § 388-101D-0350, filed 6/30/16, effective 8/1/16.
