Section 365-230-060. Requirements for the accreditation of refresher training courses.

- A training program may seek accreditation to offer refresher training courses in any of the following disciplines: Inspector, risk assessor, supervisor, project designer, abatement worker, renovator, and dust sampling technician. A training program may apply for accreditation of a refresher training course concurrently with its application for accreditation of an initial training course. All applications for accreditation of a refresher training course must follow the application process as described in WAC 365-230-035. To obtain department accreditation to offer refresher training, a training program must meet the requirements for accreditation of a training program as described in WAC 365-230-040, except for the minimum training-hour requirements in WAC 365-230-040 (6)(a) through (g). In addition, applicants for accreditation of a refresher training course must meet the following minimum requirements:(1) Each refresher course shall review the curriculum topics of the full-length courses listed in WAC 365-230-050, as appropriate. In addition, to become accredited to offer refresher training courses, training programs shall ensure that their courses of study include, at a minimum, the following:(a) An overview of current safety practices relating to lead-based paint in general, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline.(b) Current laws and regulations relating to lead-based paint activities in general, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline.(c) Current technologies relating to lead-based paint in general, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline.(2) Each refresher course, except for the project designer, renovator, and dust sampling technician course, shall last a minimum of eight training hours. Project designer, renovator, and dust sampling technician refresher courses shall last a minimum of four training hours.(3) For all other courses offered, the training program shall conduct a hands-on assessment, and at the completion of the course, a course test.[Statutory Authority: RCW 70.103.030.
