Section 308-330-650. Parking meters—Application of proceeds.

- (1) The coins required to be deposited in parking meters are levied and assessed as fees to cover the regulation and control of parking upon highways, the costs of parking meters, their installation, inspection, supervision, operation, repair, and maintenance, control and use of parking spaces, and regulating the parking of vehicles in parking meter zones; and the costs of acquiring, establishing, improving, maintaining, and operating public off-street parking facilities.(2) The coins deposited in parking meters shall be collected by the duly authorized agents of the local authority and shall be deposited by them as directed by the local authority.(3) The local authority shall pay from the moneys collected from parking meters the costs for any parking meters purchased and installed as provided herein, and expenses incurred for their installation, inspection, service, supervision, repair, and maintenance, for making collections from such parking meters, and for the enforcement of provisions herein applicable to parking meter zones. The net proceeds derived from the operation of parking meters after the payment of such costs and expenses, may be used for parking studies and for the acquisition, establishment, improvement, maintenance, and operation of public off-street parking facilities.[Statutory Authority: RCW 46.90.010.
