Section 296-96-23250. What general requirements apply to driving machines and sheaves?

- (1) Sheaves and drums must be made of cast iron or steel and must have finished grooves for ropes.(2) Set screws fastenings must not be used in lieu of keys or pins on connections subject to torque or tension.(3) Friction gearing or a clutch mechanism must not be used to connect a driving-machine drum or sheave to the main driving mechanism, other than in connection with a car leveling device.
