Section 296-96-23155. What requirements apply to pull straps?

- Manually operated, vertical slide, biparting elevators doors which can be operated from the landings must be provided with pull straps on the inside and outside of the upper panel where the lower edge of the upper panel is more than 6 feet 6 inches above the landing when the panel is in the fully open position. The length of the pull straps must be as follows:(1) The bottom of the strap must be not more than 6 feet 6 inches above the landing when the panel is in the fully opened position.(2) The length of the strap must not be extended by means of ropes or other materials.(3) Where pull straps are provided on the car side of doors of elevators which can be operated from the car only, the length of the pull straps must conform to the requirements specified in (1) and (2) of this section.
