Section 296-96-08230. What requirements apply to electrical wiring?

- (1) All wiring must conform to the NEC in effect at the time of installation or major alteration.(2) If a driving machine is mounted on the conveyance chassis, the electrical connections between the conveyance and the power source must be able to stop power if a traveling cable parts.(3) All electrical connections between the conveyance chassis and the stationary connections must be insulated flexible conductors conforming to the applicable articles of the NEC relating to Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators, Moving Walks, Wheelchair Lifts, and Stairway Chair Lifts.(4) An elevator mechanic employed by an elevator contractor may perform electrical work from the electrical disconnect to and including the elevator operating control systems.[Statutory Authority: Chapter 70.87 RCW.
