Section 296-96-07230. What requirements apply to electrical wiring?

- (1) All wiring must conform to the National Electrical Code (NEC) in effect at the time of installation or major alteration.(2) If a driving machine is mounted on the elevator chassis, the electrical connections between the elevator and the power source must be able to stop power if a traveling cable parts.(3) All electrical connections between the elevator and the stationary connections must be insulated flexible conductors conforming to the applicable articles in the NEC relating to Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators, Moving Walks, Wheelchair Lifts, and Stairway Chair Lifts.(4) An elevator mechanic employed by an elevator contractor may perform electrical work from the electrical disconnect to and including the elevator operating control systems.[Statutory Authority: Chapter 70.87 RCW.
