- (1) You must make sure all cutting heads, and saws if used, are covered by a metal guard that:(a) Covers at least the unused part of the periphery of the cutting head.(b) Forms all or part of the exhaust hood if an exhaust system is used.(2) You must make sure a guard constructed from:(a) Sheet metal is at least one-sixteenth inch thick.(b) Cast iron is at least three-sixteenths inch thick.
