- You must protect employees from point-of-operation hazards by using properly installed, adjusted, and maintained guards or devices.EXEMPTION:This requirement does not apply if the point-of-operation opening is one-fourth inch or less, before use.Note:1. You may use a combination of guards and devices as long as employees are completely protected from point-of-operation hazards.2. Hand tools used for placing materials into the press, or removing them from the press, are not a substitute for point-of-operation guards or devices.
