Section 296-62-20013. Protective clothing and equipment.

- (1) Provision and Use. The employer shall provide and assure the use of appropriate protective clothing and equipment, such as but not limited to:(a) Flame resistant jacket and pants;(b) Flame resistant gloves;(c) Face shields or vented goggles which comply with WAC 296-800-160;(d) Footwear providing insulation from hot surfaces;(e) Safety shoes which comply with WAC 296-800-160; and(f) Protective helmets which comply with WAC 296-800-160.(2) Cleaning and Replacement.(a) The employer shall provide the protective clothing required by subsection (1)(a) and (b) of this section in a clean and dry condition at least weekly.(b) The employer shall clean, launder, or dispose of protective clothing required by subsections (1)(a) and (b) of this section.(c) The employer shall repair or replace the protective clothing and equipment as needed to maintain their effectiveness.(d) The employer shall assure that all protective clothing is removed at the completion of a work shift only in change rooms prescribed in WAC 296-62-20015.(e) The employer shall assure that contaminated protective clothing which is to be cleaned, laundered, or disposed of, is placed in a closed container in the changeroom.(f) The employer shall inform any person who cleans or launders protective clothing required by this section, of the potentially harmful effects of exposure to coke oven emissions.[Statutory Authority: RCW 49.17.010, [49.17].040, and [49.17].050.
