- (1) Engines not equipped with turbochargers must be equipped with spark arrestors in compliance with the department of natural resources, chapter 332-24 WAC, requirements for spark-emitting equipment.(2) Each machine muffler provided by the manufacturer, or their equivalent, must be in place at all times the machine is in operation.(3) Exhaust pipes must be located or insulated to protect workers from accidental contact with the pipes or muffler and must direct exhaust gases away from the operator and other persons.[Statutory Authority: RCW 49.17.010, [49.17].040 and [49.17].050.
