- (1) Whenever an employee may be pulled or pushed or may fall into water where the danger of drowning exists, the employee shall be provided with and shall use U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices.(2) Each personal flotation device shall be maintained in safe condition and shall be inspected frequently enough to ensure that it does not have rot, mildew, water saturation, or any other condition that could render the device unsuitable for use.(3) An employee may cross streams or other bodies of water only if a safe means of passage, such as a bridge, is provided.[Statutory Authority: RCW 49.17.010, [49.17].040, [49.17].050 and [49.17].060.
