Section 296-307-48027. What requirements apply to low pressure oxygen manifolds?
Latest version.
- This section applies to cylinders with a maximum DOT service pressure of 200 psig.(1) Manifolds must be of substantial construction suitable for use with oxygen at a pressure of 250 psig. They must have a minimum bursting pressure of 1,000 psig and must be protected by a safety-relief device that will relieve at a maximum pressure of 500 psig.Note:DOT-4L200 cylinders have safety devices that relieve at a maximum pressure of 250 psig (or 235 psig if vacuum insulation is used).(2) Hose and hose connections subject to cylinder pressure must meet the requirements of WAC 296-307-48049. Hose must have a minimum bursting pressure of 1,000 psig.(3) The assembled manifold including leads must be tested and proven gas-tight at a pressure of 300 psig. The fluid used for testing oxygen manifolds must be oil-free and not combustible.(4) The location of manifolds must meet the requirements of WAC 296-307-48025.(5) The following sign must be conspicuously posted at each manifold:Low-Pressure ManifoldDo Not Connect High-Pressure CylindersMaximum Pressure—250 PSIG[Statutory Authority: RCW 49.17.040.
