- "Exit" means the portion of an exit route that is generally separated from other areas to provide a protected way of travel out of the workplace."Exit route" means a continuous and unobstructed path of exit travel from any point within a workplace to safety outside. An exit route generally consists of three parts: Access to an exit; the area which provides a way of travel out of the workplace; and the way from the exit to the outside.
