- The clerk of scales is responsible for the following duties:(1) Verifying the presence of all jockeys in the jockey's room at the time required by rule;(2) Verifying all jockeys are properly licensed;(3) Verifying the correct weight of each jockey at the time of weighting out and weighing in;(4) Overseeing the security of the jockey's room, including the conduct of the jockeys and their attendants;(5) Recording all required data on the scale sheet and submitting the completed scale sheet to the horseman's bookkeeper at the end of each race day;(6) Maintaining the records of applicable winning races on all apprentice certificates at the race meet;(7) Releasing the apprentice jockey certificates when either the jockey departs or at the conclusion of the race meet;(8) Reporting immediately to the board of stewards any violations of the rules of racing.
