Section 250-61-225. Issuance of false academic credentials.

- (1) It is unlawful for a person or entity to:(a) Grant, award or offer to grant or award a false academic credential, in violation of this chapter; or(b) Represent that a credit earned or granted by a person or entity, in violation of this chapter, can be applied toward a credential offered by another person; or(c) Solicit another person to seek a credential or credit offered in violation of this chapter.(2) The granting, awarding or issuance of a false academic credential is a Class C felony and is subject to criminal and civil penalties as prescribed in RCW 9A.20.021.[Statutory Authority: RCW 28B.76.120 and 28B.85.020.
