- Any area used for general storage, and boiler or furnace rooms shall be separated from other parts of the building by construction having a fire-resistance rating conforming to the general construction requirements of the building type.Central heating plants and other fuel-burning appliances shall be properly maintained and cleaned at frequent intervals.
