Section 132W-117-070. Pedestrians' right of way.

- (1) The operator of a vehicle shall yield right of way, slowing down or stopping, if need be, to so yield to any pedestrian, but no pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close that it is impossible or unsafe for the driver to yield.(2) Whenever any vehicle slows or stops so as to yield to pedestrian traffic, the operator of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass such a vehicle which has slowed or stopped to yield to pedestrian traffic.(3) Where a sidewalk is provided, pedestrians shall proceed upon such a sidewalk.[Statutory Authority: Chapter 28B.50 RCW.
